Camp Maxey - AHS MCJROTC

I chaperoned the JROTC training camp at the Army National Guard bade, Camp Maxey. The camp lasted four days. The cadets slept in the barracks, showered in the prison-style showers, ate MREs for lunch and got to practice their skills including the HEAT Simulator (Humvee rollovers), the SET simulator (firing range), Land-Nav, paintball and the confidence course.

Vulture Eggs

These vulture eggs are in a nest built in the only remaining POW cell building still standing at Camp Maxey. The camp was intended to house 9000 Japanese prisoners during WWII but was actually used for 3500 German prisoners over a three year period.
