Mardi Gras in Deadwood

Friday, between Mt Rushmore and the Deadwood Mardi Gras, we managed to catch two beer tastings and three wine tastings. Which was pretty awesome (especially the Naked Winery) but the highlight of the day, and the "reason" for the trip, was Mardi Gras. With special Deadwood Event cups you can buy cheap beer or wine and roam the streets from casino to casino and free food tasting to free food tasting. Later in the evening there is live music.

Best of all we get to do it again on Saturday.

Bridal Veil Falls, Spearfish Canyon, SD

Whitewood, SD

Any easy drive brought us to the town of Winterwood to visit Mary and Steve Tebben. We passed a flock of wild turkeys and a herd of deer both in their neighborhood.

They took us down in to Deadwood, SD for happy hour at the Marble Palace and dinner at the Deadwood Social Club.

Road Trip to SD

Sid and I left Texas Monday morning to drive to South Dakota. We plowed through TX, OK, and KS stopping in Broken Bow, NB for the night in a great little hotel, the Arrow Hotel.
